Secrets of Hair Growth

The secret to having and keeping hair growth is moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Moisture helps protect your hair from becoming dry and brittle and frizzy.

Pre-Washing

Pre-washing your hair gives it an extra boost of moisture to help protect your hair. Aside from store bought pre-wash conditioners, coconut oil is an effective pre-washer, and it can sometimes get rid of dandruff better than a dandruff shampoo. Pre-wash rich in jojoba oil and shea butter provide extra boosts of moisture and nourishment for weak, brittle dry hair.

Washing

Gently massage your hair and scalp with lukewarm tepid water. You don’t want to use water that’s too hot that’ll damage your hair. Use shampoo that contains essential moisturizers. Rinse thoroughly with water. Use clarifying shampoo every few weeks to get rid of pollutants and product residue.

Conditioning

After rinsing, apply conditioner throughout your hair and let it sit for about a minute. This lets the conditioner work its moisturizers into your hair. After a minute, rinse your hair thoroughly with water. Moisture helps strengthens your hair and maximizes its hair regrowth potential. You can also try leave-in conditioner that doesn’t need to be rinsed out, providing an extra dose of protection for your hair.

Drying

Let your hair air dry whenever you can. Air drying helps the moisture stay in your hair longer. Excessive heat from hair dryers can kill moisture and cause unnecessary damage to your hair and hair regeneration. Also never wring your hair. Twisting or stretching wet hair in particular causes damage to hair.

Post-wash Products

Protect the ends of your hair with a light moisturizer. The ends of your hair are the oldest part and needs extra protection. Moisture protection helps to reduce brittleness that causes air to easily break and split-ends.

Scalp Stimulation

Stimulating your scalp promotes more blood circulation. A good way to stimulate your scalp is to use a hard hairbrush with the plastic knobby balls at the end of the bristle. Run it through your hair and scalp for a hundred strokes a day. Aside from stimulating your scalp, you get a mini head massage as well!

As you can see, moisturizing is the secret to maintaining beautiful hair and allowing its maximum hair regrowth potential to come through. At every step of your hair care regimen, keep in mind how to retain the moisture in your hair at all times. The secret to having and keeping hair growth is to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

Drinking Coffee for Faster Hair Growth?

New scientific research has shown that caffeine could potentially boost your hair growth, or at least stunt hair loss. The inclusion of caffeine in shampoo may help fight the onset of male pattern baldness.

Caffeine helped regulates testosterone levels, one of the main causes of baldness and hereditary hair loss. The hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is thought to destroy hair follicles and thus causes hair loss or pattern baldness. When treated with the addition of caffeine, hair follicles gained strength and the hair regrowth rate increased 77%.

Baldness affects 50% of men 50 years old and this condition has created a huge market for anti-hair loss products. By the time men reach 80 years of age, baldness affects 78% of men. This explains why comb-overs are so prevalent in older men in an effort to conceal their hair loss. But who do they think they are fooling? Comb-overs can be spotted from a mile away.

Wigs or toupees are a bit more effective than a comb-over, but make sure to use quality products and skillful application, otherwise, a toupee might look like a disorganized piece of fur draped over your head (see Marv Alberts or Donald Trump). We don’t have any examples for quality wig/toupee wear because they look like real hair and thus we have no basis for suspecting wig/toupee use.

Personally, if I were going bald, I’d just shave my head and embrace baldness. Why fight a losing battle? All these anti-hair loss products aren’t 100% effective. Embracing baldness saves you time and money. Going bald is a fact of life and the sooner you accept that, the sooner you can enjoy life again. It’s just a fact of life.

Sudden hair loss, however, is cause for concern. There may be an underlying medical condition that needs to be treated right away. See your doctor immediately if you lose hair in clumps while you sleep or while you shower. This type of hair loss doesn’t define typical baldness and requires a medical diagnosis.

The scientific experiments that linked caffeine to restoring faster hair growth was conducted in 2007. So the fact that we haven’t seen any significant advances in hair loss therapy suggests that the experiment went nowhere. Plus, these caffeine experiments have only been conducted in the lab so far and are not conclusive yet. So don’t go ingesting 10 cups of coffee yet to try and get your hair growth rate increased!
